Akadeum’s innovative, buoyant approach to separation takes technology that traditionally requires small aliquots and additional equipment to accomplish this targeted cell separation and put it into a single container for self-separation. No harsh shear forces are applied, and precious samples are not exposed to external forces like rare earth magnets and magnetic gradients. Our exceptionally gentle approach to separation eliminates many of the existing technical hurdles that are limiting improvements or effectiveness of processes today.

 

The microbubbles are simply mixed into the sample where they seek out and bind to the unwanted contaminating cells, targeting them for removal. Using their inherent buoyancy, the microbubbles and their bound targets gently float to the surface of the sample container for removal, leaving the untouched cells of interest happy, healthy, and ready for downstream use.
